Subverting men’s style/ men’s fashion isn’t something new. Women have been living outside of the gender binary for centuries and wearing men’s clothes was one way of refusing to fit in.
and of course Frida Kahlo, my personal favorite Dapper of all times.
Since January 2009 we have DapperQ, “for anyone who wants to make any element of men’s style truly their own. It’s for all ones who have been discouraged-in a million and one subtle and not-so-subtle ways-from gleaning for self expression from the rich and robust universe pioneered over centuries by dapper gents and today reflected in glossies such as GQ, Details and Vogue for Men”.
Have a look at the modern subverters of men’s fashion in the wonderful 100 DapperQ’s list they made for 2014. Nobody can beat Frida Kahlo, but they look amazing!
